SernamEG awards Equality-Conciliation Seal to SMU's Lo Aguirre Distribution Center

The governmental recognition is granted to all organizations or facilities that have implemented measures to eliminate gender inequities, gaps, and barriers in employment.

The National Service for Women and Gender Equity (SernamEG) awarded the Equality-Conciliation Work, Family, and Personal Life Seal to the Lo Aguirre Distribution Center, part of SMU's Logistics Division, in recognition of its commitment and good practices in gender equality by fostering measures to eliminate gender inequities, gaps, and barriers in employment.

This recognition adds to the one awarded to SMU last year, marking a milestone as the first supermarket chain to implement Chilean Standard 3262 and obtain the Seal awarded by SernamEG.

In the case of the Logistics Division, it is important to highlight the training program for the development and inclusion of women in historically male-dominated workplaces such as forklift handling, stackers, electric pallet trucks, and other logistical activities. Additionally, the company promotes inclusive leadership through talks and training on the use of neutral language, unconscious biases, and the promotion of shared responsibility, among other topics.

Priscilla Carrasco, National Director of SernamEG, highlighted the decision of an "organization to move forward in incorporating equity as a fundamental pillar of its work that allows to make visible the women who work in this organization and to generate work and family reconciliation practices that are beneficial for everyone, so that they can, for example, participate in raising children in the most everyday matters and understand that we also have private life and leisure spaces."

Pilar Dañobeitía, Chairwoman of SMU's Board of Directors, thanked the distinction to the national coordinator of SernamEG's Good Labor Practices Program, Paula Pizarro, and made a special mention to the collaborators. "Last year we achieved this recognition for SMU, today we celebrate obtaining the Seal for the Lo Aguirre Distribution Center, thus reaffirming our company's commitment to gender equality. I want to congratulate the entire team that has made it possible and invite them to continue with the mission of making Chile a more inclusive society," she said.

On his part, SMU's Logistics and Supply Chain Manager, Martín Celedón, added that "SMU and its subsidiaries positively impact the community with initiatives that promote gender equality and inclusive leadership as part of our CERCA cultural seal. We have worked integrally within the company, being part of its strategic definitions, implementing the NCH3263 management system, and promoting various initiatives."

The ceremony for the delivery of the Equality-Conciliation Seal took place at the Lo Aguirre Distribution Center in Pudahuel, with the presence of the national manager of SernamEG's Good Labor Practices Program, Paula Pizarro; Pilar Dañobeitía, Chairwoman of SMU's Board of Directors; Paula Coronel, Corporate Manager of People and Sustainability; SMU's Logistics and Supply Chain Manager, Martín Celedón; Women and Work Area Chief, Juan Carlos Acevedo; Helen Leiva; Applus Certification Manager, Certification House of Chilean Standard 3262, Carolina Troncoso; and the representative of Winlog - APLOG A.G. (Association of Professionals in Logistics, Operations, and Supply Chain), Eliette Maureira.
